This is an update on my initial review, which follows below. I initially described these phones as sounding mushy, although they sounded fine to the person calling in. With some use I have discovered that the sound improves significantly. It is possibly not the best but the sound quality becomes very much better. Consequently, I have upgraded my product rating from 3 to 4 stars. Purchased as a replacement for old Panasonic DECT handsets with failing keys. The base works as a plugin replacement for the old unit, which was important as it came with the wrong lead for my VoIP adaptor. Otherwise installation was quick and easy. The unwanted messaging system is easy to turn off. (It's likely to be unwanted as VoIP/DigitalVoice providers are likely to provide a superior system). It is really useful to be able to configure the system from any handset, and handsets can be named (handy for the intercom system). The issue with this otherwise excellent product is the sound quality for incoming calls. Phones are not the best for sound, but these headsets are outstandingly poor. No problems with outgoing calls. It is just the sound of the incoming calls. This one issue is the reason for the 3 star rating.

I bought a new additional handset to replace a broken one from an existing Panasonic DECT phone set. I was unable to source the exact same model but over the years I have replaced several broken handsets with newer models with no problem. The new handset connected to the base OK but didn't have a phone book. I spoke to Panasonic about this and they confirmed it was incompatible and advised I should consider updating the complete set. I have had the old set for a while so I thought this was sound advice. I purchased a new set (base plus additional handsets). The user manual is very light on detail but when I put the batteries in each handset, they connected automatically to the base. 5* for this. I also connected one of my previous hand sets and it registered OK too. 3* for this My hope was that I could use this previous handset to copy all of the phone book entries to the new phones. Nope, no can do. I was forced to enter each phone book entry individually (they do automatically replicate to the other handsets so another 5* for this). Perhaps with the new call blocking facilities etc the new phone book has a different configuration to the older models but it would seem not unreasonable to be able to migrate existing phone books to the new system. Or maybe I am just missing something here. I have only just received the new handsets and they seem to be working fine. I cannot really give them a rating yet. Update: I have used the handsets and I would be tempted to give this phone even less than 3* The descriptions of the phones says "Enhanced volume- up to 70% louder than other Panasonic phones" The ringer is certainly loud enough but the volume of the call is much less than my previous Panasonic phones. I had to put the phone on speaker and put it to my ear to hear the caller. There may be something I am not aware of, or a setting I am missing but currently I find the phones almost unusable. Having 4 of them, you can imagine my disappointment.

Long battery life, easy to navigate during setup, comfortable to hold and use, good storage capacity, very clear and no interference, identifies nuisance calls, easy to block calls. One minor bad point is that time on phone has to be altered manually when clocks go back in winter. Otherwise excellent.

These cordless landline telephones have a good range and easily get a signal anywhere in the house - and even into the conservatory and garden. They look smart and the sound quality is very good indeed. They have all the usual features of modern phones such as call-blocking etc. All in all, very happy with my purchase. The recharging cradles are sturdy and robust, as are the phones themselves. Very easy to set up and install.
